County Councillors voted to maintain 2025 LPT levels
Households and property owners in County Wicklow won't face a rate increase to their LPT payments this year. Councillors voted to maintain 2025 levels for 2026 at a meeting of Wicklow County Council today (07/07/206).
Local Property Tax is an important funding source for local authorities. It contributes to the cost of providing a range of local council services including libraries, public lighting, road maintenance, housing services, fire services, community grant scheme, street cleaning, recycling services, and tourism development initiatives.
LPT generates €1.4m in funding for Wicklow County Council and supports local projects in five Municipal Districts.
Bray will receive almost €352,000, the other four districts - Arklow, Baltinglass, Greystones and Wicklow will each receive just under €264,000.
Projects supported directly through the LPT Discretionary Fund include among others:
- Heritage signs installed throughout the district - Arklow MD
- Ferrybank footpath repairs - Arklow MD
- Footpath construction in Derry Drive, Tinahely - Baltinglass MD
- Construction of footpaths in Blessington Graveyard - Baltinglass MD
- Repair of Esplanade bandstand roof and painting of Victorian seatback at Bray Seafront - Bray MD
- Repair of Bray beach accessibility boardwalk - Bray MD
- Cladding of ramp at Farrankelly - Greystones MD
- New Footpath at Merrymeeting, Rathnew - Wicklow MD
- Refurbishment of toilets at Wicklow Seafront - Wicklow MD
