Wicklow TD, Minister Simon Harris has confirmed that the construction of a new coast guard station has now begun the tender process
Wicklow TD, Minister Simon Harris has confirmed that the construction of a new coast guard station has now begun the tender process with the project now advertised on the E-Tenders website.
Speaking in Greystones, Minister Harris said, “I know how absolutely vital this coast guard project is for the incredible team in the coast guard who carry out lifesaving work and for our entire community. We are so fortunate in Greystones with our coast guard team but the facilities they are operating from are not acceptable and also are too far a distance from the sea.
“This new state of the art facility for the coast guard beside the sea will provide them with modern facilities and enhance their work further. I am really conscious that this project has been long discussed and awaited and I have been intensively engaging with the Coast Guard, Wicklow County Council and the Office of Public Works. I also want to thank my colleague, Cllr Derek Mitchell for his tireless and ongoing work on this.
“This week I received written confirmation that the project has now begun the tender process and the construction is expected next year. I will closely monitor this project every step of the way,” concluded Minister Harris.
