Kiltegan of West Wicklow has been recognised at the IPB Pride of Place Awards, being given a Special Award. This award "identifies a unified rural community with a project and a dream. This little village is developing fantastic future plans for the entire area and when a community gets behind a project dreams really do come true". Over a two year period, including the 2020 pandemic year, the village raised approximately €70k for their hub, and the Pride of Place judges recognised local volunteers, who had the determination and energy to deliver on inclusive plans for the future of the village.
The awards are hosted by Marty Whelan, and it is said that "the competition focus is about people coming together to shape, change and improve daily lives in their communities. Since the competition commenced in 2003, it has impacted on hundreds of thousands of people, all of whom are proud of their place."
