The Minister for Education is coming under increasing pressure not to reopen schools next week.
Teachers' union the INTO says that with Covid cases already increasing at an alarming rate, many schools aren't set up to deal with the level of infection in the community.
General Secretary John Boyle said nearly 700 primary school children testing positive in the 14 days before schools shut for the holidays.
He says schools need more time to prepare for reopening.
