Independent Broadcasters have welcomed an additional €2.5 million in funding for the independent and local radio sector.
The funding will be made available early next year through the Sound and Vision Scheme administered by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.
Radio stations have been financially hit over the past year, with a downturn in advertising revenue, due to the lockdowns imposed.
Chairman of the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland, John Purcell says the additional funding is badly needed.
