While the Taoiseach of the country receives just under €212,000 a year, it’s emerged that 71 HSE staff were paid over 350,000 euro each last year – more than double the number in 2019.
23 received 400,000 each, which includes basic pay, overtime and other allowances.
The highest earner received over 640,000, as the HSE's expenditure increased last year due to the pandemic.
Stephen McMahon, from the Irish Patients Association, says the highest earner is taking home the combined salary of the Taoiseach, the Tanaiste and two TD’s. He’s calling for the spending to be reviewed.
