Health Officials Raise Concern Over Increase In Younger People Contracting Covid 19

It's important the government doesn't play the blame game when it comes to targeting young people about COVID-19.

That's according to SpunOut.ie, after the Acting Chief Medical Officer said yesterday that health officials were considering a plan to target under 45s.

73 percent of cases of COVID-19 in the last 2 weeks have from those under 45.

Action Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn says there is no blame being given to younger people, but added the rise in cases in those age groups needs to be highlighted.

Ronan Glynn said it's important to refresh the government communications in relation to COVID-19 in an attempt to suppress the virus.

Advice from NPHET to the Health Minister showed concern among a rise in cases of those aged between 25 and 34.

It also highlighted the 'risk' of social gatherings in private homes, which are described as 'uncontrolled environments'.

The current advice is that no more than 10 visitors from a maximum of 4 different households should gather in a private setting.
