The proposed store will provide up to 25 direct full-time jobs.
Lidl Ireland has been refused planning permission for the development of a mixed-use, town centre scheme anchored by a discount food store in Kilcoole, County Wicklow.
It's third time unlucky for the retailer. A revised proposal was submitted in September last year, following an unsuccessful application in February, 2023
The application, for a Main Street site, relates to a single storey building with a mezzanine plant deck for the food store supermarket with ancillary off-licence use, over a total floor space of 2,512 square metres (net retail sales area of 1,495 square metres).
The scheme also includes a café and a terrace of five two-bedroom, two-storey homes, which is intended to be completed on a phased basis, “overall providing a highly active streetscape and urban infill scheme”.
Despite a promise of some 25 jobs for a store in Kilcooole, the plans were refused. Lidl also estimated the proposed store would generating €1million every year locally in wages, and up to €3million in construction wages.
