The children's ombudsman claims young people have died by suicide because of the government’s 'inaction' on mental health.
Dr. Niall Muldoon has criticised the delay in implementing the Pathfinder Project for Youth Mental Health which was first proposed five years ago.
He claims in that time, many thousands of children have languished on waiting lists and been turned away from adolescent units.
He has made the comments in letter to the Health Minister, which has been released under the Freedom of Information Act.
Dr. Muldoon says Simon Harris must establish the Pathfinder unit immediately
