An eleven-year old girl from Greystones, is celebrating this morning, after receiving a commendation in this year’s Foyle Young Poets of the year awards.
Kate O’Brien was among 15,000 to enter this year’s competition, and is one of just 85 to receive the commendation for her eight line poem “Before”.
Before
Before the dew on the grass
Before the car drove past
Before lights turned on
Before you went out and saw the sun
Before you brushed your teeth
Before you had something to eat
Before you woke and got out of bed
I placed a kiss upon your head.
