A woman in her 70s was the victim of a ‘hit-and-run’ incident where a vehicle mounted the kerb on a busy street in Newtownmountkennedy and struck the woman before driving away from the scene.
The woman had been standing at a bus stop when a ‘multi-purpose’ vehicle mounted the kerb and struck her before fleeing the scene at around 11:30am on Sunday the 28th of July. The woman was rushed to hospital to be treated for injuries that are believed to be non-life threatening.
A Garda spokesperson gave a statement this morning to say that they had received a report of a traffic incident involving an MPV vehicle and the elderly pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle failed to remain at the scene following the incident. The spokesperson said that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
