Gusts of up to 110 kilometres are expected in Wicklow and several other counties around the country today.
A status yellow wind warning came into effect overnight for counties in the northern half of the country and along the east coast, including Wicklow Dublin and Wexford.
The warning will remain in place until 8 o’clock this evening, with road users being urged to take care.
A yellow Marine wind warning and a small craft warning are also in place, with force six to force seven gale force winds forecast from Wicklow Head to Malin Head to Valentia and on the Irish Sea
