Up to 100 bikes will be rolled out incrementally during the year long pilot scheme. I
45 docking bays will be selected around the town in conjunction with the council.
They should not impede accessibility or create any kind of safety hazards and this will be continually monitored.
The bikes themselves are sturdy, equipped with lights, a bell, an LCD display, and an anti theft system including an alarm and remote locking.
Users will sign up to an app, input their payment details, note the safety advice and rules, locate a bike and off they go.
The cost will be 18c per minute or €6.50 per day for a maximum of 60 minutes.
It will be geolocked around Bray, meaning the bikes will not operate outside the designated zone. If it proves to be a success, there is potential at extending it to other areas in Bray Municipal District such as Kilmacanouge and Enniskerry.
The scheme is due to launch in March.
