Gardaí believe they were part of a wider group involved in crime across the Carlow, Kildare and Wicklow areas.
It’s understood the teens, who ranged in age from 15 to 18 years old, had been involved in several road traffic incidents locally in recent weeks. They were also known to try the doors of unlocked cars in the area and steal items, that often went unreported.
They have been named as Joe Carthy and Jack Kennedy from Athy, Co Kildare, Alex McCarthy and Jeremy O’Brien from Carlow, who are understood to be cousins, and Kamil Pustkowski from Limerick.
They been arrested and interviewed in recent weeks, and files sent to the Juvenile Liaison Office.
