The Department of Education is planning for a full return to schools from next month, according to the Minister.
Despite a commitment to keep schools open earlier this year, there was a closure due to the spread of Covid-19 in January.
There are now concerns with the Delta variant that the reopening of schools from the end of August may be under threat, given that children aren't being vaccinated.
The HSE's vaccine portal will open for 16-18 year olds in the coming days.
