The Department of Education has confirmed the extension to Coláiste Chraobh Abhann in Kilcoole won’t be delayed by the current Covid 19 pandemic.
An extension to the school has been approved and is currently being overseen by the National Development Finance Agency.
The agency has told Wicklow TD Stephen Donnelly they are currently in the process of appointing design teams to carry out the works.
Concerns had been previously raised over the future of places for 59 local children at the school due to a lack of space.
Plans to increase the school capacity have stalled since 2014.
Affected parents have no other options available as Kilcoole, Newtownmountkennedy and Newcastle are not in the catchment areas for any other secondary schools in the greater Greystones area.
