Arklow RNLI lifeboat was launched at approximately 9.15am on Friday following a pager alert by the Irish Coastguard, to reports that potentially 2 surfers were in the water and in need of assistance.
The Arklow Lifeboat Ger Tigchlearr was tasked by the Coastguard to join an already an ongoing multi agency search involving Wicklow Lifeboat and an Irish Coast Guard Rescue Helicopter and shore based rescue units along the beaches at Brittas Bay.
In challenging conditions, Arklow Lifeboat proceeded at speed to the search area, as the lifeboat joined the search, news was received to the lifeboat that the surfers had managed to make it to shore safely.
All search and rescue assets were then stood down by the Coastguard and our crew made their way back to Arklow Harbour.
