The Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council Frank Curran has reiterated a commitment to take legal action if necessary, to have the public right of way to the North Beach in Arklow re-opened.
Following correspondence with Wicklow TD John Brady, the council has indicated that draft papers including affidavits for a Section 160 legal action have been prepared by the council’s solicitors, and are currently being finalised.
The owners of a local caravan park were criticised earlier this year after they erected additional barriers at the site to block the public right of way.
Attempts to resolve the situation have so far proved unsuccessful.
