Wicklow County Council has secured funding worth €500,000 to build a boardwalk at South Beach in Greystones.
A recent council meeting heard the development is to be a permanent structure 150 metres in length with three access points.
The boardwalk is expected to have a lifespan of 40 years.
Councillor Stephen Stokes has requested action about flooding at the archway, near the South Beach car park.
It was agreed to write to Irish Rail, to press them to resolve the issue.
