Irish Water expects construction work on the Arklow Wastewater Treatment Plant to begin in the second half of the year.
Following a Dail question from Wicklow’s Social Democrat TD Jennifer Whitmore, Minister of State Malcom Noonan said the required licenses have been secured by Irish Water, with contract procurement nearing completion.
Once complete by 2024, it’s expected over 15,000 people in the town will be connected to the new scheme. Deputy Whitmore told the Minister the provision of the plant has been stalled for too long.
