Sinn Fein has launched a campaign to bring the old Courthouse on the Boghall Road in Bray into public ownership.
The facility closed in 2006, when court sittings and services were relocated to alternative accommodation leased by the Courts Service in Bray town centre.
Since then the site of the former courthouse has remained vacant.
Following correspondence with Wicklow TD John Brady, the Minister for Justice Helen McEntee has said it is her intention to look at constructing a new courthouse facility in the town, as the current one is operating at or near full capacity.
However a recent assessment of the current Boghall Road site found it to be unsuitable in terms of size or location.
