Green TD Steven Matthews has confirmed that the NTA and Wicklow County Council are identifying suitable locations for the installation of new bus stops along the busy Hawkstown Road.
Deputy Matthews said, “The Hawkstown Road area in Wicklow is seeing considerable residential growth and it makes sense that public transport should be expanded to serve this area. I am contacted every week by constituents seeking better public transport, more options, higher frequency and more reliability of services and it has been one of my priorities since being elected.
“I was contacted by local residents and bus users seeking a bus stop for the Hawkstown area and following my contact with Wicklow County Council and the National Transport Authority, both agencies are now advanced in identifying suitable safe locations for the stops.
“Wicklow is growing in population especially in areas such as Kilcoole, Rathnew, Wicklow, Blessington Delgany and Greystones and it is vitally important to those communities that public and community services are provided and improved in line with population growth. I am continuously working with community groups and residents association to ensure that services are adequate for their area and if I can assist any group please get in touch with me,” concluded Deputy Matthews.
