Gardai have confirmed Wexford Town will be the new location for the regional headquarters in the eastern region serving Counties Wicklow and Wexford.
A restructuring plan of the force was announced earlier this year by Garda Commissioner, Drew Harris.
Under the plan, regions will be reduced from six to four while divisional Headquarters will be brought down from 28 to 19.
The plan is based on population numbers, geography, projected growth and crime trends.
It means seven locations around the country including Naas and Bray, will lose their status as divisional headquarters and will no longer have their own chief superintendent.
