A nationwide Status Yellow weather warning for snow and ice has come into effect, with Met Éireann warning of potentially hazardous driving conditions in some areas. Met Éireann say that blustery showers of hail, sleet and snow with icy stretches on untreated surfaces will lead to hazardous driving conditions, and that some thunder and lightning may be expected too. This warning remains in place until midday today, the 24th of February.
