Tributes are being paid to poet and author Brendan Kennelly who has died, aged 85.
The former Professor of Modern Literature at Trinity College Dublin passed away yesterday afternoon at a nursing home in his native Kerry.
President Michael D Higgins said Mr Kennelly forged a special place in the affections of the Irish people.
Friend and fellow poet, Michael O'Flanagan, co-founder of the Inchicore Ledwidge Society, says he had great empathy for people.
