Wicklow TD Glad That 84X Bus May Be Set To Increase Wicklow Service.

Dublin Bus are reviewing plans to increase the number of evening 84X bus services running from Dublin to Wicklow.

Social Democrats TD for Wicklow, Jennifer Whitmore has welcomed the news that Dublin Bus are reviewing plans to increase the number of evening 84X bus services running from Dublin to Wicklow. Deputy Whitmore, having previously written to Dublin Bus about the need for more services on this route, raised this issue directly with representatives from Dublin Bus and the National Transport Authority today in Leinster House.

Speaking at today’s Joint Committee on Transport and Communications Deputy Whitmore raised the issue of Wicklow passengers not being able to get seats on the 84X before it leaves Dublin. “I was very heartened to hear from the National Transport Authority and Dublin Bus today in the transport committee that funding can be made available for additional 84X services leaving Dublin. Every year we have this
issue where Wicklow bound passengers cannot get a seat on the services even before it departs Dublin City.

“I was glad that Dublin Bus confirmed they are looking at this issue. Although it is frustrating to have to be continually raising this issue on an annual basis. Capacity reviews of these services should happen as standard. It shouldn’t take public reps and members of the public raising it every year. “I will continue to raise this issue with both Dublin Bus and the NTA, and look forward to hopefully seeing extra services on the 84X route soon.”
