Sinn Féin Wicklow TD John Brady today called for the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly to stop acting as a block to the national vaccine roll out, and for the Taoiseach Micheal Martin to step in, to ensure that the Health Minister is unable to do any more harm.
It follows the news that in the last week, students in three classes in one school in South Wicklow, including senior infants, have been isolating, after three cases of Covid-19 were diagnosed.
John Brady says all three classes had their first test in the new purpose built Covid test centre in Newtownmountkennedy last weekend.
However, while one class had their second test in Newtown, the other two classes were forced to travel from Arklow to the RDS and Aviva Stadium in Dublin, some with only two to three hours’ notice, because the new test centre in Newtown is closed every second weekend.
Speaking to East Coast FM’s Morning Show, Deputy Brady said it’s yet another example of the mishandling of the pandemic by Minister Donnelly and his department.
