Wicklow Sinn Féin TD John Brady is calling for cross party support for a Sinn Féin Bill to freeze rents.
The Bill was introduced in the Dáil last week and is due to be debated tomorrow.
Deputy Brady said that the Bill would freeze all rents for existing and new tenants for a period of three years. The legislation also calls on the Minister for Finance to introduce a refundable tax credit of up to €1,500 for renters, equivalent to putting one month’s rent back into people's pockets. In Wicklow rents have increased by 11.9% in the last year according to Deputy Brady.
