Local authorities in Wicklow and around the country will soon be able to take double the number of homes in new developments for social and affordable housing.
Minister Darragh O'Brien is bringing proposals to cabinet mandating 20% of all new build homes be social and affordable.
It expands Part V housing which is currently set at 10% of developments for social housing only.
