Residential property prices increased by 5.5% in the year to May, up from 4.6% in the year to April.
CSO figures show the price of an apartment or house went up by 6.2% outside Dublin.
In the capital, they rose by 4.9%.
Outside of Dublin, Greystones had the highest median price at over €481,000 followed by Bray at €405,000 and Celbridge in County Kildare at €395,000.
