Student accommodation won't be used to house refugees during college terms, under a new agreement.
The Department of Higher Education and the Department of Integration have agreed new protocols around the use of student housing for refugees.
Current arrangements to allow its use during summer months will continue, but can only go beyond that if accommodation is vacant for 12 months.
Higher Education Minister Wicklow TD Simon Harris says it provides much needed clarity around the issue.
