Wicklow has secured less than eight million euro out of several hundred million being allocated for various projects around the country under the Urban Regeneration Development Fund.
The County council had sought funding for projects for the south Quay in Arklow, the North quay in Wicklow town and the Bray harbour. However funding has only been provided for the Bray project.
Two projects in Sligo were allocated almost €48 Million, while four projects in Galway will share over €62.5 million.
€430 Million has been provided to four local authorities in Dublin for various projects .
Speaking to East Coast News, Fianna Fail Senator Pat Casey said he was disgusted that Arklow and Wicklow were overlooked. Senator Casey said he believes what was once an East- West divide regarding state investment in Wicklow, is becoming a North- South Divide.
