Figures released by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre show the 7 day incidence rate in Kerry was 884 per 100 thousand population between St Stephen's Day and New Years Day.
It was followed by  Wicklow ,Wexford, Waterford, Cavan and Kildare.
Westmeath was hit the hardest with Covid during this period, with incidence rates more than double the national average, at 3,056 per 100 thousand people.
