Some €2 million will be invested in improving and maintaining 280 recreational facilities on Coillte-owned lands right across the country. The investment is part of a Strategic Partnership between the Department of Rural and Community Development and Coillte that is designed to boost rural tourism and local economies.New Coillte capital project works announced for 2023 include the €23,040 allocation to Devil’s Glen, which includes the waterfall walk and the Seamus Heaney walk.

The Devil’s Glen was also the 19th most visited Coillte site in Ireland during 2022, with 43,392 visitors.A total of €6,912 will also be allocated to Devil’s Glen for maintenance works consisting of the erection of new benches and the installation of safety barriers.Other maintenance work projects include €23,040 for maintenance works outside the central zone in the general public areas at Avondale Forest Park and €3,456 for general trail repairs at Ballinastoe MTB.
