Verona Murphy To Contest General Election As Independent Candidate In Wexford

Verona Murphy has kicked off her general election campaign stating that she is "not a racist."

The former Fine Gael candidate has announced she will run as an independent in the Wexford constituency.

She was de-selected by Fine Gael last year, following controversial comments about asylum seekers.

Ms. Murphy was branded a racist by some, but she says her comments were based on national security concerns
