A 9 million euro investment has been given to an Garda Síochána to improve traffic law enforcement.
The R772 road in Wicklow is set to be a fixed location for the speed cameras.
Gardaí say the locations have been chosen due to a high number of crashes on those parts of the roads.
The Minister for Justice Helen McEntee announced this today exlclaiming it will increase road safety.
She stated:
"We know speed is a significant contributor to road deaths and so it’s vital we leverage technology to make our roads safer for everyone. International experience shows speed cameras lead to drivers reducing speed.”
Transport Commentator Conor Faughnan explained to us that accident data was a contributor to the Wicklow speed camera.
