Wicklow writers Claire Keegan and Audrey Magee have been honoured for their novels Small Things Like These and The Colony respectively.
13 books have been nominated for the award which is open to works by writers of any nationality, written in English and published in the UK or Ireland.
There is a £50,000 prize up for grabs and the winner will be announced on October 17th.
