The Herald had reported that the project will also take Gardaí from other suburbs on the southside, rather than take on new staff.
According to the Irish Independent, Local councillor Mick Fleming was told in a letter from the Garda Commissioner’s office that the station would only operate between 7am and 9pm.
But Shane Ross has announced on his facebook page that Garda Commissioner Drew Harris has told him the station will be run on a 24 hour basis.
The re-opening of the station was a key demand of Transport Minister Shane Ross when the Independent Alliance entered Government.
It's one of six being re-opened under a pilot scheme, and the estimated cost of refurbishing and opening the station is 1.5 million euro.
Stepaside and Rush stations shut their doors part of cutbacks in the force in 2012 and 2013.
