A study from Chill Insurance last year ranked Wicklow among Ireland's counties with limited EV charging infrastructure.
Wicklow motorists using the M11 can now pull off and recharge at two county locations.
New charging hubs are operating at Jack White’s Inn in Brittas Bay, and at Bridgewater Shopping Centre in Arklow.
The Brittas Bay hub has four 360-kilowatt chargers, allowing up to eight EVs to charge at the same time.
The Arklow site has two chargers for four vehicles.
Both locations offer contactless payment for drivers topping up on the go.
ESB’s public charging network now boasts over 50 high-power hubs nationwide.
Commenting on the expansion, Pat Fenlon, Executive Director, Customer Solutions, ESB said:
The M11 is a vital transport artery connecting Dublin with the southeast. These new hubs in Brittas Bay and Arklow represent another important step in building a high power, reliable and accessible charging network. By investing in high capacity sites at key locations, we’re making longer EV journeys easier and more convenient for drivers.

Tadhg Kennedy, Owner of Jack White’s Inn commented
Jack White’s Inn has always been a landmark stop along the M11. This investment ensures we continue to meet the needs of modern travellers. We are delighted to offer a convenient, well‑located place for drivers to recharge - whether stopping for a quick top‑up or taking a break with us inside.
