Donald Trump has decided to implement a ban on some foreign work visas until the end of this year.
It includes the J-1 visa.
The ban would also prohibit transfers within multi-national companies such Google, Amazon and Microsoft.
Business leaders and the US Chamber of Commerce have criticised the plan, saying it will damage the economic recovery after Covid-19.
