Wicklow County Council has indicated tenders are being sought for two new fire stations in Baltinglass and Dunlavin.
They were first announced in 2021 as part of a funding package worth €2 million.
Chief Fire Officer Aidan Dempsey says efforts are being made to fast track the new stations.
