A Tender process is underway for what will be the largest social and affordable housing scheme in the Country on lands adjacent to Shanganagh Castle in Shankill.
The development will see the Land Development Agency deliver 597 homes in partnership with Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.
This tender process is expected to be completed later this year with construction scheduled to commence next year.
First homes are due to be completed early in 2023.
All of the 597 homes will be social and affordable.
Two thirds will be allocated to affordable homes for both rent and purchase, and the remaining third for social housing.
The site occupies around 9 hectares beside Shanganagh Castle, Shanganagh Park and Castle Farm W
When completed, it will be one of the largest housing developments in Europe to achieve the ‘passive house’ low energy use standard.
There will be a very low car parking provision with around one space for every two homes, with a very high bicycle parking allocation of over 1,300 spaces.
