The project will deliver 106 new social homes for families and individuals in West Wicklow.
€40 million is being invested into a major new development in Blessington. Tánaiste Simon Harris announced the funding for over one hundred new social homes in West Wicklow this afternoon.
Wicklow County Council has been given final approval to build the new development at Burgage More. The project will deliver 106 new homes, to include 78 houses and 28 duplex units for families and individuals.
This scheme was originally part of a Public Private Partnership but is now being delivered directly by the local council. It will also include a two-storey crèche, new footpaths, and upgraded road access.
Speaking on the announcement, Tánaiste Harris said:
I am really delighted to confirm this significant investment in social housing for Blessington and the wider West Wicklow area. This is exactly the kind of delivery we need to see real homes, for families in the community.
This development is set to make a major impact and will be transformative for Blessington. This is about giving families security, stability and a place to call home. Housing remains one of my top priorities as a public representative for Wicklow and as Tanaiste.
The Burgage More development covers approximately 3.53 hectares. The scheme will add 106 social homes to Wicklow County Council's housing stock. Road works will include the widening and realignment of Burgage More, a new junction to the north of the site, and new footpaths improving safety and connectivity.
