Wicklow consumers spent the most with websites in Ireland, with an average of €972 in purchases last year.
Banks say it's part of a push towards digital spending, but consumers have been warned to be careful of fraud.
The new study from Paypal found people spent an average of €503 shopping online over the course of 2021.
This was a big jump from the average of €357 in 2020, and was fuelled by internet shopping during Covid.
