Road users and pedestrians in Wicklow and surrounding counties are being urged to take extra care today.
A status yellow rainfall warning is in place for 18 counties across the country.
The warning covers all of Connacht, all of Munster, Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Wexford, Offaly and Westmeath.
However heavy thundery downpours are also forecast for the Garden County today, with spot flooding expected in places.
