Speed Camera Vans To Operate From 27 New Locations In Wicklow

Gardaí are increasing the number of areas where drivers' speed is being monitored after reviewing nearly a decade of data.

GoSafe vans will be parking up at over 900 new locations across Ireland to watch out for speeding drivers.

The monitoring network is being expanded, with over 13-hundred stretches of road now marked for enforcement.

Nearly six hundred locations are being removed after a review to concentrate on new areas identified as "high risk."

Over 1.5 million speeding tickets have been issued in the decade since the vans were first brought in.

But Gardaí say the real measure of success is falling road deaths - which have decreased by around a quarter since then.
