Sinn Fein TD Launches Appeal To Help Ukraine.

Following a meeting with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Ireland, Sinn Féin TD for Wicklow, John Brady, today launched a Humanitarian Appeal to raise funds to send to Ukraine.

Following a meeting with the Ukrainian Ambassador to Ireland, Sinn Féin TD for Wicklow, John Brady, today launched a Humanitarian Appeal to raise funds to send to Ukraine. Due to the challenges in transporting goods, Irish NGOs have appealed for the public to donate cash, which can be donated at the John Brady’s constituency offices, and which will then be handed directly to the Red Cross.Brady said:“Today I met again with the Ukrainian ambassador to Ireland Larysa Gerasko.I offered again my solidarity and that of the Irish people to the Ukrainian people in these horrific times.The Russian invasion of Ukraine is an affront to the UN Charter, democracy, decency and international law.An estimated 875,000 Ukrainian’s have fled according to the UN. It is expected that a further 4 million people, the majority women and children, will flee in the days and weeks ahead.What the Ukrainian people need at this time is the support of people from across the world and humanitarian aid.Due to logistical challenges and the need to deliver aid immediately, the humanitarian groups on the ground have asked for cash rather than physical items. This will allow them to source items locally, ensuring quality and quick delivery to those that need them.I have started to collect donations in my Bray and Arklow constituency offices. This money will be given directly to the Red Cross to help with the humanitarian crisis that is quickly unfolding.
