Minister Simon Coveney will be asked to take questions from an Oireachtas Committee on a champagne party held in his Department last year.
The Foreign Affairs Committee has agreed to invite the Minister before it when a review of the event is complete.
Then-Secretary General Niall Burgess and around 20 staff were pictured celebrating in the Department after the election of Ireland to the UN Security Council.
It came at a time when Covid restrictions severely limited the amount of people who could meet up in Ireland.
Minister Coveney has previously said he would accept an invitation to appear before the committee if asked.
