The Minister for Transport has been criticised for not properly addressing overcrowding issues for commuters using the Dublin to Rosslare rail service passing through Wicklow.
Irish Rail has ordered 41 carriages which will arrive in 2021 however it’s understood that none will be used to provide additional capacity on the service. Currently there are only 5 trains travelling through Wicklow daily with two morning trains between 6 and 7am.
Local TD John Brady says the issue needs to be addressed before it gets any worse.
