The Department of Education has granted Scoil Chonglais in Baltinglass funding for an extension to their premises in West Wicklow.
The move comes after the Minister for Planning Peter Burke amended regulations last month to exempt temporary school buildings from having to secure planning permission.
Among the extension works include the construction of 3 general classrooms, a music room, two science labs and extra space to cater for those with special educational needs.
Wicklow Minister Simon Harris has welcomed the move and says the change will speed up the delivery of temporary accommodation for other local schools including St Kevin’s Community School in Dunlavin.
